Training You & Your Dog!
It all started in 1969 when I got my very first German Shepherd. In 1972, I donated her to the military to become a Military Working Dog with the stipulation I would be her handler after completing training.
This began an eleven year journey in the military (U.S. Air Force & U.S. Marine Corps) where I would train and handle five (5) different dogs as a Patrol Dog and Bomb/Explosives Dog Handler working in the American Embassy in several foreign countries and ended in service with HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron.
After the loss of my eighth GSD, Otto (shown in top picture) in 2016, I was now in need of a Service Dog to assist me with issues of anxiety and panic. I went in search of a dog with a great personality and temperament to be used in this capacity and was blessed to have my current dog donated by a Texas breeder.
Many hours of training have gone into the development of this wonderful animal as a "First Responder" in assisting with medical needs. She not only assists with the anxiety & panic attacks but also now detects and alerts on blood sugar changes for my diabetes. (Szva, shown at right)
That said, it is so important to have a well trained, well mannered dog and for you to be a responsible dog owner if you are to have a happy home and a better community. Not just Service Dogs, but also your pets and companions. WhiteHaven Canine wants to help you achieve both of these goals.
We provide balanced training that builds confidence in your dog as he/she learns what is expected, not only in the home but in the real world on a daily basis. The anxiety most dogs feel comes from a feeling that they need to protect, lead, or they don't know what is expected of them. This leads to much of the problems I see with my clients and their dogs.
Too many dogs are either surrendered to shelters or "put down" due to disobedience or aggressiveness when these problems could easily be taken care of with training that not only teaches obedience commands, but instills calmness of mind.
With over fourteen years of working with dogs of all breeds, we are confident and are always prepared to assist you and your pets' training needs and ensure that you and your pet will receive the best care and love. Your happiness and care is our priority and we strive to provide a service we would want our own pets to receive.
