It all started in 1969 when I got my very first German Shepherd. In 1972, I donated my German Shepherd to the military to become a Military Working Dog. This was done with the stipulation I would be her handler after completing training.
This began an eleven year period where I would train and handle five (5) different dogs as a Bomb/Explosives Dog Handler working in the American Embassy in several foreign countries and ended in service with HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron.
After the loss of my eighth GSD, Otto (shown in top picture), in 2016 , I was now in need of a Service Dog to assist me with issues of anxiety and panic. I went in search of a dog with a great personality and temperament to be used in this capacity and was blessed to have my current dog donated by a Texas breeder.
Many hours of training have gone into the development of this wonderful animal as a "First Responder" in assisting with medical needs. She not only assist with the anxiety & panic issues but also now detects and alerts on blood sugar level changes to assist with my diabetes. (Szva, shown at right)
